Internet Troubles in the Middle East and South Asia

The Guardian on Friday describes how How one clumsy ship cut off the web for 75 million people. "According to reports, the internet blackout, which has left 75 million people with only limited access, was caused by a ship that tried to moor off the coast of Egypt in bad weather on Wednesday. Since then phone and internet traffic has been severely reduced across a huge swath of the region, slashed by as much as 70% in countries including India, Egypt and Dubai." They include this very cool graphic:

Then CNN reported, Third undersea Internet cable cut in Mideast "An undersea cable carrying Internet traffic was cut off the Persian Gulf emirate of Dubai, officials said Friday, the third loss of a line carrying Internet and telephone traffic in three days."

I've already seen conspiracy theories saying that it's the beginning of a US attack on Iran or that it's Israel's doing to attack Lebanon. Even with cables cut, there are still idiots on the net.
