The Pop v. Soda Map

The Pop Vs Soda Map.

I didn't realize that using "Coke" generically for soda was so common in the south. I used to say it in the NYC area. Pop is just wrong.

Howard says, "Pop is just wrong"

Spoken like a true soda drinker who spent time in the dreaded "pop" lands in his youth.

I'm with you brother.

Isn't this map old news, doesn't all this junk show up every few years. The map itself is from 2003. I linked to this map and a few others in a discussion of even more dialect regionalisms than just pop vs. soda when I reported the results of one the many regional dialect quizzes back in August of 2006. I suppose the popularity of Strange Maps has brought this map back to the forefront of the internet.
