McCain today says he wants to push back the presidential debates this Friday so that he can go to DC and convene a leadership panel to deal with the financial crises in a bipartisan way putting politics aside.
Huh? First off, you're not president yet, your only responsibility is as Senator and you've missed more votes in the Senate than anyone, by far. Where were you?
I've been watching C-SPAN today as my representative led the House Financial Services Committee questioning of Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke. I saw both sides ask questions and suggest that people were working behind the scenes on coming up with a deal. It sounds unpartisan to me (probably because neither side understands it all). Where are you? You could have been participating and still made the debates.
Doesn't it sound like canceling political debates might be a political ploy? Nah, couldn't be. Could his economics tutoring be running behind schedule?

Well, the Friday debates are supposed to be about foreign policy... I'm thinking McCain doesn't want to be spanked on foreign policy topics in the same week that voters are expressing their lack of confidence in him on economic policy.
I agree with your suggestion that perhaps the cramming session for the exam on Friday isn't going so well and is being interrupted by this financial crisis.
I will be very annoyed if they postpone the debate. First of all, the future president would have to do more than one thing at a time. Second of all, isn't it even more important now that we figure out who could run the country best with a crisis like this? The next president will have to administer whatever plan is passed.
