Are You Better Off Now?

Quick in what way are Montana, Wyoming, Rhode Island and North Dakota doing better than every other state? They are the only states who's median household income has risen over the past six years (adjusted for inflation). Every other states median income as fallen. Joy. I assume there are plenty of explanations for this like an aging population.
