I had missed all of The H-P Boardroom Drama
"H-P chairwoman Patricia Dunn hired investigators to retrieve the phone records of board members in an effort to plug a press leak. Those investigators did so by using fake identities. Dunn, in turn, used the information to attempt to find out the source of the leaks. The director fingered was George Keyworth, but he refused to resign (though he won't be renominated). But [powerful lawyer and HP board member Tom] Perkins resigned in protest, and started asking questions. The journalists who followed H-P were also apparently targets of the company’s internal probe. The Wall Street Journal’s Pui Wing-Tam was among those spyed upon."
Apparently the California Attorney General is looking into criminal charges on the matter. Now if only the US Attorney General would look into criminal charges on the NSA domestic spying imbroglio.
