Bill Kristol's first NY Times column is today, President Mike Huckabee?.
M.J. Rosenberg in Neoconservatism For Idiots says "It's not a column. It a series of GOP talking points." He also says "Kristol is just a neocon, using Republicans and now the New York Times as his useful idiots to salvage the Iraq war and get us into another one with Iran."
Greg Sargent rips apart his writing style, calling the column Larded With Awful Cliches. And that he misattributed a quote. "Not exactly up to The Times's standards, to be sure. Maybe the way to look at this is that the paper's standards were lowered to Kristol's level?"
The Times also ran a column by Paul Krugman today, From Hype to Fear, and tristero does a comparison with Kristol's. "This stark difference in tone carries through both pieces. Kristol merely whines like an unruly child...Krugman, however, explains and analyzes".

I can see where Kristol is coming from regarding Huckabee. I saw Huckabee on the Tonight show and he comes across as very likeable. I disagree with almost all his views and would never vote for him but he is charming in a Bill Clinton/ Ronald Reagan cross kind of way.
I agree, particularly compared to the other Republican candidates.
