Wired had David Byrne (of Talking Heads) cover the current state of the music industry. First is a conversation betweenDavid Byrne and Thom Yorke on the Real Value of Music. The second is David Byrne's Survival Strategies for Emerging Artists — and Megastars which surveys 6 distribution models with different levels of artistic control. It's some of the clearest and most insightful writing I've seen on the subject.
