Great Moments In Selective Outrage

No More Mister Nice Blog's Great Moments In Selective Outrage really made me laugh out loud. This was Peggy Noonan's complaint on Friday (at least the beginning of it), "Excuse me, but it is embarrassing -- really, embarrassing to our country -- that the president of the United States has again put off a state visit to Australia and Indonesia because he's having trouble passing a piece of domestic legislation he's been promising for a year will be passed next week. What an air of chaos this signals to the world."

Republicans have a difficult time comprehending actual debate, nuance and uncertainty.

They tend to move in lockstep and have trouble spitting out anything other than the daily talking points from Frank Luntz. Noonan's really really smart and doesn't need the repub TPs and rarely uses them, but this is her equivalent of Romney's - "he isn't living up to the oath he took" nonsense.

The sad thing is that Noonan has actually made some very good points over the past year about how weak Obama has been (presidentially speaking), especially in comparison to Ronny Raygun (her old boss) and Bush II. Those boys didn't hesitate on domestic agenda....simple.....cut taxes for the weathly....cures all ills.

So after Obama got health care done, she can no longer argue his weakness. Passing landmark legislation ain't exactly a sign of weakness...so what's left.

I guess that we are back to the old - "he's doing too much at once" drivel, except this time we call it chaos; sounds alot scarier.....chaos.... yeah yeah that's it, chaos. The best part for me is the use of the term "air of chaos". Who puts on airs but liberal elites from the coasts. Noonan is a great speechwriter and chooses her words very carefully, make no mistake about that. Each and every word is chosen with intent.

She argues that strength is chaos because Obama changed his travel plan to pass the most important domestic legislation in 45 years.

And since when does a true Republican give a rat's ass about what the rest of the world thinks anyway.

Here Noonan is simply writing to the base....at least the part that reads. I am disappointed.

I think that the dems and progressives have been waiting for Obama to take control (of the issues of day) as President. Now that Pelosi and Reid have (apparently) pulled a rabbit out of the hat for him, let's see if he's really got his game face on now.

If he does, look out. This country is ripe for some serious changes.
