Federal Judge Finds N.S.A. Wiretapping Program Illegal

The New York Times reports Federal Judge Finds N.S.A. Wiretapping Program Illegal "A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the National Security Agency’s program of surveillance without warrants was illegal, rejecting the Obama administration’s effort to keep shrouded in secrecy one of the most disputed counterterrorism policies of former President George W. Bush."

Finally.

It will be good to shed some light in the dark areas in this case.

The whole thing has highlighted for me that some topics are not left or right ideologically. We decried Bush's use of these wiretaps and then when the Obama administration came in they wanted to continue them and defend them. That agreement between "opposites" is the surest sign that this power must be curtailed and regulated as it was supposed to be with FISA. Perhaps even that isn't enough.
