Notes from Howard's Sabbatical from Working. The name comes from a 1998 lunch conversation. Someone asked if everything man knew was on the web. I answered "no" and off the top of my head said "Fidel Castro's favorite color". About every 6-12 months I've searched for this. It doesn't show up in the first 50 Google results (this blog is finally first for that search), AskJeeves says it's: red.

Cenk Uygur: The Irrefutable Stupidity of Sarah Palin
I think she'd clearly get the 20% of the general vote that is the GOP base. She'd get some GOP moderates, but she'd never get the center of the population (she didn't last time). So she'd never win while leading the ticket.
Are you refering to the same "center of the population" that decided to vote for Bush/Cheney in 2004.
Rove and company were able to rewrite history and "swiftboat" Kerry, who was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran, in favor of two draft dodgers.
The 04 election demonstrated that it's not impossible to get enough of the middle to win....regardless of reality.
By the way, "last time" (Nov 08) the unemployment rate was about 6% and Wall Street was going to use the trillions in bailout money to save the US economy.
At the next presidential election we will be fortunate if the unemployment rate is below 8% and Obama figures out a way to "redirect" Wall Street money to more productive uses than outrageous bonuses.
Otherwise, any Tom, Dick or Sarah could win in a populist backlash.

Yes Palin is a moron.
But the truly scary thing is that she would get 40% of the popular vote right now in a general presidential election, especially against B. Obama.
She is only a well handled populist outrage away from the White House.
Can anyone say, Wall Street Bailouts and Bonuses paid for with soaring deficits and higher taxes.
She or someone close to her will figure this out sooner or later, and when they do, we are all screwed.
