Susan Boyle - Britains Got Talent 2009

I think Britains Got Talent is more interesting than American Idol, here's why...

I think the purpose of the shows is entirely different. Idol is about finding/creating stars. That typically means talent plus something less tangible. Britain's got Talent seems more about showcasing talent, less about finding stars. While Boyle's performance was great (and surprising) it isn't something that I would put on my ipod to listen to regularly (too old fashioned, even for an old guy). I would contrast this to Idol contestant Adam Lambert's performance of Mad World which will be downloaded many, many times.

Yeah they are different. Pop Idol is the UK equivalent of American Idol (and the original). There was an America's Got Talent but it didn't see as interesting as this woman and last year's Paul Potts.

I only watch Idol towards the end, which it's probably time to start. I can't handle all the bad auditions.

And oddly enough, Mad World was the only performance I caught last week. :)
