Obama Funds Keating Economics Documentary Short

The Obama campaign has funded a 13 minute documentary on John McCain and the Keating Five Scandal, apparently relating the Savings and Loan Crisis with the current financial crisis. It comes out at noon at Keating Economics.

I'm curious to see it, but not quite sure how I feel about it. This seems very negative, but done in a new way. This also doesn't seem like something you just whip together in response to a negative ad but something that took some time to make (though I suspect it could be done in a week or two).

It won't qualify for a Documentary Short Subject Oscar:

"1. To be eligible for Awards consideration for 2008, a documentary short subject must complete a seven-day commercial run in a theater in either Los Angeles County or in the Borough of Manhattan, between September 1, 2007, and August 31, 2008."

"7. No type of television or Internet transmission of a contending documentary may occur anywhere in the world until 60 days after the first day of its qualifying run. However, up to ten percent of the running time of a film is allowed to be shown in a nontheatrical medium prior to the film’s theatrical release."
