Majority of Republicans Doubt Theory of Evolution

This is just depressing Majority of Republicans Doubt Theory of Evolution.

I expected the part of the study that said the more religious you were the more likely you were to not believe in evolution but I was shocked that as many as 74% of weekly church goers didn't believe in evolution. Ugh.

I think this country needs to lighten up...

Perhaps, decreasing drinking age to 18, allowing drinks in public, legalizing prostitution and marijuana and opening up public places for cafes and entertainment will do it... Maybe, then, people will work to live and not otherwise... and not stick to their homes (watching stupid tv), churches and shops with nothing else to do in their towns... I think this creationist and other bullshit here is simply because people are scared by tv, overworked and bored out of the f'n minds.

And you were the happy one at your last job :)

I have say, of my time in Provo, UT I was very impressed that virtually everyone was involved in some kind of sport or outdoor activity very often. People water skied at lunch, and were up in the mountains every weekend and doing things with their family most every night.

I never got into the creationist conversation but they were certainly on the more religious side of things.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... :) ...that is why I learned to change them (jobs ;)

Anyway, that is the thing... here in the States people do sports, outdoors and other such stuff but I just for back from Netherlands and it reminded me of different lifestyle, European. At 8pm, on any square the action is starting... cafes are spilling over to the streets, little crowds here and there watching musicians or soccer, or, just hanging around, people watching... and doing so way past midnight. So, people congregate, have a good time... You can have a political debate in a brown cafe (a quote from drunk Dutchman "I hate United States, I hate New York and Boston I hate most of all... it is even gayer then Amsterdam" ... LOL...) It seems that if people here did not roam in the woods or shot guns or worked around the clock or listened to shitty tv/radio... and just had a bit more life like they do in Europe they would not have believed in all the bs they do...

Well there's good evidence I agree on the whole don't live to work thing. :) I think part of what you describe is the difference between urban and suburban life. Even though it's a town known for shutting down a bit early, Boston is certainly not short on pubs filled with sports and political discussions. Then again, I think we skew a little more towards the evolution believers.
