Notes from Howard's Sabbatical from Working. The name comes from a 1998 lunch conversation. Someone asked if everything man knew was on the web. I answered "no" and off the top of my head said "Fidel Castro's favorite color". About every 6-12 months I've searched for this. It doesn't show up in the first 50 Google results (this blog is finally first for that search), AskJeeves says it's: red.

I thought he did a good job with the speech. He was humble, forthright, and straightforward. He provided somewhat of a timeline (not to withdrawal, but to certain milestones that must be met by the Iraqis). He took responsibility for it all. Right after he said, "Where mistakes have been made, the responsibility rests with me," I thought, "gee, wouldn't it be a great TV moment if he up and resigned right then?
But overall, I had one problem with the speech. I just don't see the plan WORKING.
