Notes from Howard's Sabbatical from Working. The name comes from a 1998 lunch conversation. Someone asked if everything man knew was on the web. I answered "no" and off the top of my head said "Fidel Castro's favorite color". About every 6-12 months I've searched for this. It doesn't show up in the first 50 Google results (this blog is finally first for that search), AskJeeves says it's: red.
Thanks, there were a couple of interesting things there. First was the fact that there's a Tyvek recycler. I hate getting those big envelopes from Fedex and not being able to stick them in with the recycling. Second was the fact that Ikea accepts CFL bulbs. And third, the tennis shoe thing. Lord knows I've probably got at least a half dozen gym shoes that DON'T stink to high hell sitting in my closet.
My dad is a rabidly active member of the Lions Club. As a kid I'd join him on Saturday's a couple of times a year where we would go to a warehouse and sort donated eyeglasses. Let me tell you, then handle A LOT of eyeglasses, and virtually all of them get put to good use. And as a kid it was great to discover just how silly you could look in a pair of used eye glasses.
