Take That Vikings

Magnetic-induction cooking really is the next big thing in cooking technology.

I saw a demo of this somewhere, can't remember where, but at the time the stove was more like $10k. But all those folks out there need to add to that cost the replacement of their Calphalon pans (minus the proceeds from selling them on eBay, of course).

We've got a gas stove that's about a year out from replacement. I'm seriously going to consider this as an alternative.

More thoughts...last time I looked these things were closer to $10k. So I went to GE’s site to learn more. There, I found something else interesting:

That $2k gets you the cooktop, not an oven below it. That means not only new pots and pans to work on this thing, but new cabinetry to hold this thing, and of course a new oven.

According to the site, the better one needs a 50amp circuit.

So let’s see…new electrical wiring, cutoff of the current gas line, new oven, new pots and pans, new cabinetry….

Ah, that’s where the $10k comes from….
