More GOP Craziness

So two term governor and nine term representative Mike Castle famously lost a Delaware primary this week to Christine O'Donnell for Joe Biden's Senate seat. O'Donnell has been widely ridiculed for some crazy things she'd said. It turns out she's not the only crazy DE republican who won a primary related to Castle this week. In running for the Senate he gave up his House seat. The GOP primary winner for that race was Glen Urquhart. Here's a clip of him

He's of course completely wrong. I'll quote a US Supreme Court decision that quotes Jefferson's letter. "In the words of Jefferson, the clause against establishment of religion by law was intended to erect 'a wall of separation between Church and State.'"

As a slightly embarrassed Delawarean, I expect all of this to blow over when the Democratic candidates for Delaware's house seat, John Carney, and the Democratic candidate for Delaware's senate seat under contention this fall, Chris Coons, win.

Delaware is a moderate leaning Democratic state. The Republicans who win election here are moderates. These Tea Partiers are not going to win their elections in this state. Hopefully this election cycle will show how the tea party tactics end up shooting the republicans in the foot because, though they may be able to rally their faithful to take primaries, the won't be able to take an election.

I googled Jefferson's letter, he says "separation of church and state". You have two choices Urquhart is misinformed on an important topic of American history and you shouldn't vote for him, or he is lying and you shouldn't vote for him.

I also expect Coons to win, but then again I didn't expect Scott Brown to win here in MA.
