There Was No Vaseline

Was this the first panic attack that caused two F-15s to be scrambled? Don't you feel safer?

I do not feel more or less safe.

One thing I feel strongly about is that one needs to ignore "mainstream" US media (NPR excluded). Not a cent spent on or second of air time allowed for the moronity. Ok, one more exception, one can watch/hear this stuff but only for entertainment purposes, as a "real" The Daily Show, of sorts.

Yes, I am beginning to understand the mainstream media as the marketing department of the government and big business. Their fare is fear-mongering (bird flu), dead white girls (the girl in Aruba, Jon Benet, etc...), diversionary coverage (gay marriage ammendment to Constitution), uncovered topics (US soldier coffins, debate on war), and slanted coverage (take your pick). I only watch/listen to the media so I hear "the message" of what junk they are spewing.

Interestingly, blogs are starting to become a real force in the media....actual debate, opinions, fact-checking, etc... and is even affecting elections (Lieberman). Just as part of the reason JFK beat Nixon was that he understood the role and importance of television....same thing with blogs and blogger community today.
