Notes from Howard's Sabbatical from Working. The name comes from a 1998 lunch conversation. Someone asked if everything man knew was on the web. I answered "no" and off the top of my head said "Fidel Castro's favorite color". About every 6-12 months I've searched for this. It doesn't show up in the first 50 Google results (this blog is finally first for that search), AskJeeves says it's: red.

Think Progress has put together a Katrina Timeline. Bush can't be happy.

Many, many mistakes here, in both preparation and response, and not all by Bush, many others must be shamed. Blanco had the auhority but did not release nat'l guard prior to storm hitting, Mayor called mandatory evac, but did not enforce it, nor was anyone helped to evacuate before the storm hit. Mayor did not have preperations (food, security, water, etc.) at the Superdome and Convention Center which were identified as points of last refuge even before the storm hit. And Bush should have certainly dropped everything when the levees broke. Check out Talking Points here No Spin
