Notes from Howard's Sabbatical from Working. The name comes from a 1998 lunch conversation. Someone asked if everything man knew was on the web. I answered "no" and off the top of my head said "Fidel Castro's favorite color". About every 6-12 months I've searched for this. It doesn't show up in the first 50 Google results (this blog is finally first for that search), AskJeeves says it's: red.
This search engine is wonderful! It's my favorite comic strip of all times. I have 3 or 4 books of Calvin and Hobbs but now I can search for my favorite cartoons. I love the ones with snowmen and tried to duplicate some but it's too hard in real life. Takes a lot of snow to make a snowman and Calvin's themes are usually so grandiose.
Before C&H my favorite was Bloom County, but C&H is better and nothing since has been as good. I have a few of the books and was curious about The Complete C&H but rather than an OED sized edition I'd much rather have it on my iPad, but they don't have an app for C&H (hopefully yet). Seems like a no brainer to me.
