Obama's and Oil Contributions

FactCheck.org writes in Obama's Oil Spill that Obama's ad that "I don’t take money from oil companies" is a bit misleading. The Tillman Act of 1907 means companies can't contribute directly to any campaign. "Obama has, however, accepted more than $213,000 in contributions from individuals who work for, or whose spouses work for, companies in the oil and gas industry." (Hillary has received more than $306,000). Obama says he doesn't take money from PACs or lobbyists and that's true, but a PAC is just pooled contributions from individuals in an organization. Is there such a big difference that lobbyists often direct a PAC contributions?

This isn't saying Obama is influenced by oil companies, his policies don't seem that friendly to them, but it does go to show he isn't the completely straight talker that some think he is.
