Perhaps that CT cost is close to the national average, but I had occasion to be scanned recently (for a kidney stone, yay!) and the amount on the bill for the CT alone was over $4k. It may be because it's a new-tech CT, or because I got to radiology through the ER, but it was a little more than $950. It seems like there shouldn't be that much variability.
