Ars writes Twitter: Far more than "what I had for lunch today". I'm using it, kinda. I follow a number of people. A few friends update irregularly, like I do. A few industry types post often, using it as a mini-link blog. I've learned a little from it but would have been fine waiting for the articles to come out in a little time with a little more depth. (I tend to read the economist rather than the daily newspaper, but yeah, I obviously read a lot of news blogs).
The one example they gave that sounded useful was the comcastcares customer service experience, but really comcast should just fix their customer service.
Still trying...
We are working on just that!!! Our efforts on blogs and in places like Twitter is a small part of a much larger effort to improve service we provide to our valued Customers.
