Bill Maher is Back

Thank you TiVo. My season pass for Real Time is set to record first run only and on its own it realized Real Time was new and recorded it. He's back without writers and I think is better for it. He had a good segment with him talking to people on the street, asking their political opinions and then pointed out the hypocrisy. He talked with PJ O'Rourke and I could have done without that. But without some of the prewritten segments he had more time for his panel and it might have been the best panel yet. Mark Cuban, journalists Catherine Crier and Matt Taibbi and Tony Snow. If there's one Republican who can defend himself against the left that is this show, it's Snow.

My favorite line was Taibbi's. "Especially now that 70% of the country wants to withdraw from Iraq and we get two pro-war candidates [Hillary and McCain], if that doesn't tell you how fucked up the system is I don't know what will."

Just because she voted for the war 5 years ago, I wouldn't call her pro war. She says she will pull out and he want to keep fighting.

Let's not forget her inability to say that she made a mistake about the vote. That's either that she believes it was good (pro-war) or can't admit a mistake which is the kind of change I think people are looking for. Or most likely neither of those and she just doesn't want to appear weak in an election and that goes to the calculating charge.

I think we have had the argument over her vote before, but currently she is very clearly against the continuation of our occupation of Iraq.
